---------I avoid flying , so that leaves Ferry , Bus or Train. I love train travel, so this blog is mainly pictures from around Europe. Some were live, others in museums and others on display outside. Some were steam ,diesel, and electric. Some are scruffy and dirty most are colourful and shiny.----On a journey from Istanbul to Vienna, the train carriage developed a cracked wheel. In Bulgaria a repair was carried out, adding 5 hours to the journey time. Tickets were valid for missed connections.During that 5 hours the passengers could stay on board or visit Sofia.----I believe the only steam scheduled service in the world is in Poland, Wolsztyn to Lezno monday to friday , and on saturday through to Poznan. If you are in Poznan midweek there are normal trains to Wolsztyn.----------The train journey London to Istanbul, details can be found on bahn.de, ( several languages.) takes around 48 hours with 4 or 6 changes.non stop...But i took the chance to see places on the way by staying overnight in Paris, Budapest , and Sofia. Lovely trip.---- ------The AZUMA train is a mix of Electric and Diesel new in UK from May 2019. "Azuma"is Japenese for "East". The train runs on the East Coast main line in UK>---------Click on small pictures for info.
